A Korean Skincare Prep Guide for Brides

Every bride wants the same thing from her makeup: to look like herself, at her most luminous. What fifteen years in the chair has taught Rebecca is simple — makeup is only ever as beautiful as the skin beneath it. The Korean skincare philosophy she was raised on, and has built her bridal work around, is not about more products. It is about rhythm.

Start early, and start gently. Six months or more before the wedding, the work is consistency: a cleanser you use every night without negotiation, moisture your skin can count on, and sunscreen as a daily habit rather than an occasion. Skin changes on the scale of seasons, not weekends — give it the season.

Hydrate in layers. The Korean method builds water into the skin the way you would dress for winter — in light layers, each one sealed by the next. Essence, serum, moisturizer, pressed in with warm palms. In Rebecca’s ritual room this is called skin flooding, and it is why her brides sit down with skin that already looks lit before a single product is opened.

Exfoliate like a friend, not an enemy. A gentle, regular rhythm — never a scorched-earth session the week of the wedding. The goal is skin that is smooth and calm, not skin that is surprised.

The final month is a closed door. No new actives. No experimental facials. No product you have not already lived with. Everything inside the last four weeks should be familiar, tested and boring in the best way — this is the philosophy Rebecca teaches in Aura Rituals, her weekly ritual room: ritual over panic, always.

Wedding week is about the basics your grandmother would name. Sleep. Water. Rest for your face — light makeup or none, so the skin arrives rested. The night before, follow your usual ritual, then stop. And on the morning itself, arrive with a fresh, moisturized face and let the artist do the rest.

Skin prepared this way does something no foundation can fake: it holds light. It is the quiet half of makeup that is built to last through the entire event — and it starts months before the chair.
